Main Content: General Structure of a Black Hole

The singularity is an abstract point that doesn’t exist in real life but exist in mathematical formulas, it formed because of the extremely high gravitational pull (a really large space-time curvature). The radius of the event horizon is called the Schwarzchild’s radius. When the radius of a planet is smaller than the Schwarzschild radius, it is inside the event horizon. The G in the escape speed formula (vesc = Square root of√2GMr) would be extremely high and led to a large escape speed. The escape speed is larger than the speed of light, so even light cannot escape once it entered. Yeah, if light cannot escape, nothing can.

5+2 different types of black holes

We can also categorize black holes into two types based on their motion: The Schwarzschild black hole and The Kerr black hole.

The static, non-spinning black hole is known as a Schwarzschild black hole. This type of black hole is a solution to Einstein’s field equations of general relativity, representing a black hole with no angular momentum or charge.

A Kerr black hole is a type of black hole that possesses both mass and angular momentum, meaning it is a rotating black hole.
